Touching the Moon
Selected for the 2025 London Art Biennale, United Kingdom. Bronze sculpture, 2022. 30x57x23cm.
Celebrating Wildlife, the wonder of the seasons and marvel of migration. House Martins make astonishing journeys from Africa to build homes with us in the UK, as our Summer visitors – Yet they need attention and value. For this artist birds like House Martins link to stories and messages of love, faithfulness, and finding a home. Now developing into the theme of ‘Birds Without Borders’ to remind us that birds and other animals on land and in seas are a shared experience and inspiration – as the House Martins’ skies reach from Northern Europe to South Africa. This bird sculpture was made unique by JOEL by the manipulation in the wax stage; by adding unique features, stone & fused glass; & individual patination.
