In this vibrant tapestry crafted from oil paints, I explored the realms of Neo-Rococo and Lyrical Abstraction. The painting is non-representational, evoking a lush, dreamlike landscape through colour and texture rather than defined forms. Its palette is dominated by soft turquoise and blues in the upper area, with pinks, greens, and touches of yellow clustered like distant blossoms or foliage. The brushwork is layered and impasto-like: short, thick strokes and dabs of paint are “loaded” onto the canvas and built up over multiple layers, creating a richly textured surface. This technique produces a shimmering, dappled-light effect, as if sunlight filters through leaves.

Its loose, gestural brushwork and focus on colour and mood fit the lyrical-abstraction description of sensuous, romantic abstractions, worked in a loose gestural style. The pastel, floral-inflected palette recalls Neo-Rococo’s sweet opulence, but without Rococo’s figurative content.
