Sharron Astbury-Petit

This portrait, in acrylic overlaid with graphite and colour pencil on a wood panel, was inspired by a great love of fireworks and the joyful discovery that the evocative translation of this word into Japanese is ‘hanabi’ or fire flower. A word which speaks seductively of burning embers glowing in the darkness. Of passion, sparks of life and unquenchable fire. Of the glorious ascent of the phoenix.

Sharron Astbury-Petit has worked in France and the UK for many years, where her work has been awarded 22 art prizes and 4 medals. Her paintings seek to question, paying homage to the seduction of the intangible, and are characterized by an interweaving of disciplines to create a personal and evolutive reality. She is a member of the Société du Salon d’Automne de Paris, the Society of Graphic Fine Art and Leeds Fine Artists, and is an associate member of the Société des Artistes Français.
