The Silent ScreamQiu TianyunIn The Silent Scream, artist Qiu Tianyun employs a distilled visual language to capture the psychological extremes of fear, astonishment, and voiceless despair. A solitary face, illuminated in gold against a deep black background, appears frozen in a silent, heart-wrenching cry. Through precise use of light and shadow, the painting reveals the tension of flesh and the emotional intensity behind a wide-eyed stare. Transcending narrative, the work serves as a visual metaphor for suppressed emotion and quiet suffering—an invitation for viewers to confront vulnerability, both personal and universal.

Qiu Tianyun (b. 2007) is a young artist based in Edinburgh. Her work explores silence, emotional tension, and vulnerability through a restrained yet powerful visual language. She has exhibited internationally in Rome, Tokyo, Qatar, Georgia, and Dubai, and received the Youth Artist Award. Qiu sees art as both personal expression and ethical dialogue, reflecting a deep sensitivity to the human condition.
