Memories II
Selected for the 2025 London Art Biennale, United Kingdom. Oil on canvas, 2025. 120x156cm.
Memories II is a reflection on the nature of memory, it is how it shapes who we are, yet often slips through our grasp. Memories rarely return as whole stories; instead, they come back in fragments, feelings, colours, and impressions. This painting captures that experience through layered textures, fluid forms, and shifting tones. The work moves between clarity and confusion, echoing how memories can be vivid one moment and distant the next. By avoiding a clear narrative, Memories II invites the viewer to connect with their own inner recollections those quiet, often fleeting moments that linger beneath the surface.
I try to explore the boundaries between abstraction and figuration. I construct my paintings layer by layer using exclusively oils. I pay attention to form and colour but also place on emotional contrast. I saturate my works with hidden symbols and allusions. In that way, I aim to represent the complex interrelationship between my imagination, reality and its interpretation, so to heighten the tension between the simplicity of forms and the complexity of ideas behind them.
