BW Type+ is a black-and-white series exploring the paradoxical power of letting go. For over 11 years, Hugo Mercury has been traveling the world with the same analog camera from the 1960s — a Voigtländer CL he never repaired — with no control over focus or contrast. This limitation is a choice: to confront reality without altering it. Each photo becomes a moment of trust between the camera, the unknown, and himself. For over 20 years, he has traveled the world with his old cameras, capturing authentic and raw moments. At 37, his work explores the nuances of urban life, fleeting moments, and the beauty hidden in simplicity.
