Razvan Luscov

I am an architect, graphic artist, book designer and illustrator, and Professor at the Ion Mincu University of Architecture, Bucharest. This piece belongs to a series of spontaneous graphic works. I begin with no plan, just with lines on paper — one after the other. Each line inspires me to draw the next one, and the piece grows organically, until the end. I am not interested in the subject matter— in the sense of the Kantian definition of “free beauty/pulchritudo vaga”— just in the beauty of the forms, and of the composition. My technique is akin to what surrealists called ‘dictée automatique’, but, at the same time, it is not entirely irrational.Razvan Luscov.
