The work “holding roses” was created in different materials such as: white Carrara marble for the hand, bronze for the stems of the roses and mirrored steel for the base. The hand, sculpted entirely by hand, holds in its fist two prickly branches covered in thorns and without the flower. The hand vigorously holds something that causes it pain, something that hurts it, something that seems to have no hope (the flowers). This symbolizes the ability to hold on, to grasp the problem and not be defeated, to resist the pain and then look for a solution. You have to be strong even if in life, sometimes, you encounter obstacles or painful experiences happen to you.

Marika Ricchi is an Italian artist, specialized in the processing of marble, but also of other materials such as ceramics, resins and metals. Her sculptural style is based on the anatomical study, in particular of certain parts of the body, such as the feet, but also hands, mouths, ears, etc. These fragments of marble are then associated with other materials or objects, in order to create emotionally suggestive installations..
