TRACES by Laurence Prorok, Mixed media on canvas, 2025

Selected for the 2025 London Art Biennale, France. Mixed media on canvas, 2025. 200x130cm.

Laurence Prorok’s artistic work, rooted in drawing, deals with the act of image reconstructing. Through digital assembly of collected patterns she builds a composite cartography of a landscape. Once the cartography is printed and glued onto canvas, she starts to overlay collages of materials fabricated upstream. Through a long and meticulous process of stratification of materials, she creates the link between the printed forms and the organic forms that are deposited there. She works from the particular in order to get to the global. She seeks a balance, a circulation. When the relationship between both printed and organic areas has shaped a coherent landscape, she stops with the sensation that she has finally got there.

Laurence Prorok is a French born Artist of Italian mother and Polish father, based in France. Over the past 20 years, she has called various cultural hubs home, including Naples, Athens, San Francisco and Paris, where she both lived and exhibited her art.She holds a Master of Architecture from The School Paris La Villette and a BFA from the Academy of Art University San Francisco, CA. In addition to her own practice, Prorok has been an accomplished freelance architect and urban designer.
