Pawn of Power

Pawn of Power by Laura Sophie Saß, Oil and acrylic on canvas, 2025

Selected for the 2025 London Art Biennale, Germany. Oil and acrylic on canvas, 2025. 70x90cm.

A figure stands composed—structured, polished, hollowed.Architecture has settled into the body; presence turned into posture.Symbols of power persist, but feel weightless. Nothing breaks, yet everything shifts. This work doesn’t moralize. It comes from within—where ambition becomes identity, and silence accrues like interest. It doesn’t offer answers. Just a mirror, held steady enough to catch you looking back. And you—are you still in there?

Laura Sophie Saß (b. 2003) is a visual artist based in Frankfurt. Alongside her studies at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and work as a model, she creates paintings shaped by her experiences across business, fashion and systems of perception. She began selling her work internationally at 15. Her practice combines aesthetic clarity with emotional tension—drawing connections between outer structure and inner state, without aiming to resolve them.
