”Era of the Barcode ” portrays a weathered figure seemingly consumed by a barcode, blurring the boundary between person and product. The barlines cut through the human face like prison bars, evoking both commercial labeling and institutional confinement.The figure, rendered in dense, almost Dry brushstrokes represents the erosion of individuality under mass commodification. Their expression—part silence, part sorrow—suggests a loss of voice in a world governed by systems that quantify more than they understand.The barcode, normally an index of efficiency, becomes here a mark of dehumanization. In this work, When everything is scanned, sorted, and sold—what remains of the soul?

The artwork explores the tension between human aging and modern control systems. Monochromatic renderings contrast lived experience with code, symbolized by barcodes, to reveal consumerism’s impact on identity. It highlights the clash between human depth and societal standardization, prompting reflection on individuality in a codified world.
