9 moments of romance

9 moments of romance by Dawn Spence, Oil on canvas, 2025

Selected for the 2025 London Art Biennale, United Kingdom. Oil on canvas, 2025. 80x80xcm.

“9 Moments of Romance” reminds us that nature has no simple palette, as it unites real sunsets with drifting veils in a unique motif. The veil, a symbol of modesty and mystery, when lifted, ignights freedom and transformation. Emotions of romance are represented to evoke a sense of longing, stirring curiosity and leaving us yearning for more. Spence is a Scottish artist based in Glasgow. After earning a degree in Contemporary and Fine Art in 2017, she refined her practice through classical training in Florence. This dual foundation, blending modern concepts with traditional techniques, continues to shape her evolving body of work. Her art explores the tension and harmony between old and new, resulting in a style that is both contemplative and dynamic. Spence aims to create artwork that peacefully overwhelms – inviting stillness, reflection, and personal interpretation.
