This piece is about the everyday being retained in memory. It strikes me that we forget much more than we remember. I took an object that I have daily and gave it a sensuous and saturated sense of proportions. I interpret the Crystal & Coke to bring out a saturated quality—clean lines, colors popping from crystal facets and the Coke conjures a sense of desire. The painting has both a modern pop quality and a timelessness.

Carol Scott is Professor Emeritus of Art at University of Holy Cross, receiving several endowed professorships. She is a gallery artist at Gallery 600 Julia in the prestigious Arts District of New Orleans and featured artist at THE BUILDING. The City of New Orleans selected her work for their permanent collection. Carol is a book cover artist and poet with two books Rhapsody and Redolence: The Crystal Decade & the forthcoming Luminous Darkness: The Passion of the Last Words (Wipf & Stock 2025).
