This Clockwork Mouse, once animated by play, is now frozen in time. Its clockwork mechanism captures the energy and motion of play, a fleeting, joyful interaction. In bronze, however, it is stilled, its motion arrested. This transformation underscores the inevitability of stasis, even in objects designed for movement.The Clockwork Mouse also reflects themes of memory and function, a toy that carries emotional weight beyond its physicality. Its clockwork nature, however, speaks to the artificiality of time and movement, the way we create mechanisms to mimic life.(Please note that a clockwork system does not operate this sculpture and, therefore, does not move limbs or walk. The key in the back is fixed and part of the sculpture.)

My work is deeply influenced by the environment and culture that have shaped me. Growing up in communist East Berlin, I was immersed in a society where the state championed and celebrated art. My early passion for artistic expression was ignited in this unique setting.After witnessing the transformative fall of the Berlin Wall, I began extensive travels across the Middle East and America, which deeply influenced my artistic vision.
