“The Sudden Resurrection” explores the complexities of transformation. We’re taught to evolve into something freer or nobler—but what if the journey leads elsewhere? This painting reflects inherited and self-imposed struggles. One figure dreams of becoming a horse but ends up a burdened pack animal; another gasps for breath, bound by unseen forces; a third is stuck mid-transformation. Inspired by a Rumi poem, the title suggests hope, but resurrection isn’t always graceful— it can be painful, absurd, or forced. Where are you in your own transformation? Are you free, or bearing a weight you never chose?

Amir Taba was born in Tehran, where art and design were part of everyday life. His mother’s work in costume design surrounded him with fabric, tools, and a quiet understanding of how things are made. That early pull led him to leave behind math studies and pursue art at the University of Arts and Architecture in Tehran. His journey has since taken him through Sweden, Morocco, Germany, and the UAE, working across illustration and design. Now based in Dubai, Amir’s work continues to explore identity, transformation, and the quiet tensions we carry. His paintings are layered, emotional, and often unsettling, rooted in contrast, but always reaching toward what it means to be human.
