This work represents the internal radiography of an elephant at the moment of its unsettling trumpet call, framed by a pronounced and rectilinear backdrop. A symbiotic image aligned with the title of a song: “Elephant Song,” to which it seeks to give a face.The color palette respects that of a real radiography, benefiting from cold gray and blue tones that aim to evoke an unsettling feeling, supported by straight lines pointing toward the animal, representing the violent sound it emits.Nevertheless, the organic shapes of the elephant’s anatomy can still be found, part of its skeleton, as well as its trunk; and in the area where its ear would be, a circular form appears, representing a vinyl record: highlighting the homage this pictorial work pays to the phonetic piece from which it takes its name.The technique used is oil on canvas, painted in 2022 in A Coruña.

Beatriz Albaladejo is a Galician artist (Spain) currently based in Madrid. Her work draws significant inspiration from the avant-garde movements of the 20th century, primarily Cubism and Futurism, as well as from electronic music—a recurring subject in her practice, though always approached from varying perspectives. She seeks to capture phonetic sensations through color, generating a visual and auditory symbiosis.
