Sinikka's professional life as a psychologist had a very strong impact on her art. In fact, she worked with the most delicate and complex minds in her profession and helped children through art therapy by teaching them intuitive painting. Sinikka could see how children had a tremendous ability to heal during art therapy by being able to express feelings on paper. While observing, Sinikka realised that human suffering always dates back to the same origin - the soul. According to Sinikka, when the soul is suffering, the whole body is unbalanced. Thus, freeing a person’s spirit through art generates happiness and good health.
About Sinikka Elfving
I was born in Finland close to arctic circle. I spent my childhood in an environment of a climate with cold, dark and long winters and short summers with bright nights. We call that phenomena " the sommer of nightless nights". I always had a close connection with the nature. This is visible in my art as I express myself trough flowers, birds, butterflies, trees, fields, waters, sun and moon, rainbows, stars and colors of the seasons.
Before I became artist I studied Psychology and Philosophy and graduated from the University of Salzburg, Austria. My education and the professional experience as Psychologist has an influence on my art in such a way that I see the human being as a part of the nature and the whole creation. We don't live alone separated from the entire Universe. We also become reflections of our environments and the people within.
The most powerful words in the whole Universe are the the words of our own. We learn to judge, hate and despise ourselves and the fellow human beings during a life time. In order to reach a turning point in our spiritual evolution we need to listen to the wisdom of universal love that is peaceful and has healing powers.
Peace is a word, it can expand in billions and build new galaxies in our minds until we can live in harmony and celebrate life. We could build bridges over to the eternity where we all come from and meet a new season: PRIMAVERA DELLA VITA.
The world needs restoring energies, universal understanding and the power of all people to heal the mother earth and create Peace between nations and the people. We are longing for the paradise lost, but it could be found closer than we believe. We are not made to live in constant danger and fair, but in harmony and joy.
Only we can make the human race possible. This planet is our only home and the nature around us is the exclusive provider of life. The art of life is a serial of never ending possibilities and choices of our free will. It is caught up to us which way we will walk in these dark times of the mankind.
" When our mind calms down, when our heart center is open to the light, when our intelligence only affirms the reality beyond duality, then we come to the core of our existence that is where our Presence is, and our Presence is inseparable from the Presence of the Divine that pervades the myriad of cosmoses. We humans are gradually loosing our Presence, we are getting cought up in the mess of fake persona. It serves well for a while, but then a time comes when the persona becomes too heavy to carry any longer. Then our inner journey starts so that we can shake off the false masks, and become one with the Divine Mother" LOVE AND LIGHT Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari
The profound subjects confronted by Sinikka Elfving's are accentuated and eloquently communicated by intense colors, powerful lines that strike the viewer. Sinikka Elfving's enigmatic forests in dark greens, purples and blues, blur the viewer's vision with a surreal play of color, form and perspective, providing a scope of altered reality and penetration into the soul.
The artist's melancholic use of color conveys a visual effect that contributes to the mesmerizing aesthetic impression sensed by the spectator. Shapes are formed by hazy yet vivacious and vibrant brush strokes, creating depth and personality. Sinikka interprets religious themes, nature and abstracts, the artist's mind is communicated on canvas with and is a true manifestation of talent. Elfving's skeptical yet positive nature, next to her education in Philosophy and Psychology are instantly perceptible. One can see the influence of the Dutch and German Expressionists in what is an emancipation of the study of the mind.
Sinikka's talent transcends from the physical and appeals to the spiritual as well as one's inner self. The artist is led by the humanistic and ethical values, by romanticism and philosophers such as Voltaire and Plato. By using religious subjects, she questions of our deepest thoughts and highlights the values of to day's society, which according to her, are unfortunately driven by materialism. Every artwork by Elfving is a journey into the unknown leading the viewer to absolute freedom and to the essence of the soul.
